Fall 2025 Scholastic Update #1
With Spring playoffs in full swing, we wanted to provide you with our first update for the Fall 2025 season so that your programs can prepare for the upcoming scholastic season!
Fall Schedule Updates
With the increasing addition of popular game titles to the PlayVS lineup, including more yet announced games, changes to our weekly schedule were needed in order for us to accommodate the ever-growing lineup for both our high school and middle school leagues.
Major changes starting with the Fall 2025 season include:
- Adding Monday as an official match day.
- Moving certain game titles to new match days
- Pokémon UNITE becoming a competitive title (HS only)

These changes were made alongside community input and with an eye towards the future of PlayVS leagues as we continue to grow our available offerings. We will continue to take feedback as we move forward into the Fall and schools compete in this new schedule.
Pokémon UNITE Fall Season
We were extremely excited to bring Pokémon UNITE to the PlayVS lineup for the first time this Spring and even more excited to make it a full league title for our high school leagues. This means Pokémon UNITE will follow the same regular season schedule, with playoffs and championships awarded at the end of the season!
Middle school leagues will also return in the Fall in the recreational play format.
High School Fall Scholastic Events
We look forward to offering high school tournaments and events again this Fall to unlock more competition opportunities for schools outside of league play. More details to come!
Chess Format Update
For the Fall season, Chess will move from a 3v3 game format to a solo 1v1 for both our high school and middle school leagues. We heard from our community over the past academic year and decided to switch to a format that would unlock the ability for more schools and players to participate.
