Throughout my teaching career, I have worked at small rural schools with limited budgets and resources. Despite those challenges, introducing esports has been met with incredible enthusiasm from students. By learning how to leverage a variety of tools and support systems, I have been able to build stable and successful programs that give students opportunities they might not otherwise have.
I became a Super Coach because I know how overwhelming starting a program can feel for new coaches. Many educators want to bring esports to their schools but are unsure how to convince administrators, explain the value, or navigate the logistics. My goal is to share what I have learned, help others avoid common pitfalls, and make it easier for schools to create thriving programs from day one.
At the heart of any successful program is community. Students, parents, administrators, and the wider school district all play a role in supporting esports. Communicating its value, fostering student leadership, and building a sense of belonging are the keys to ensuring that esports provides lasting opportunities – both in competition and in life.
